She walked up to me and she asked me to sing...

{ Caren + Rachel — Karen + Leia. singing? }

Emily told me about this Publishing get together / benefit that her highschool friend who works at H-O-L-T put together. Admissions was 3 books. James M. greeted us at the door. As soon as I walked in I bumped into Rachel aka "R.K." So great to talk to her. I haven't seen her face to face for years, although we've kept in touch via B-L-O-G blogging.
Downed plenty of Ketel One & Tonics. My own form of cleansing. But it still wasn't enough for me to go Karaokeying. No way. The only time I did Karaoke was at Winnie's in Chinatown. I remember singing SWEET HOME ALABAMA. Not again. But Rachel got up there with zest and a wheat beer in hand to sing a sizzling duet with Caren of I TOUCH MYSELF. Great song. Karen wanted me to sing something with her but she kept picking slow songs. Uhh no, that would require real singing. But she did choose a winner. The Kinks' LOLA. I guess I had just enough drinks to get me going. We sounded G-O-O-D ! And if I didn't? Hey. I already gave my best, and I have no regrets at all.

Lola sounded great! And it was fun seeing you too. Now let's drag David and Simone out for drinks sometime. . . when Simone is ready to be toxified
