After work I met E Sharpe for lunch at Thai
Peep in SOHO. Except for the almost garish pink lighting, this place is always under lit. But the food is really good. After they cleared the table, Erin gave me my birthday present wrapped up in a photograph of her painting. A white beaded manly bracelet. Thanks E.
It was a good thing we were in SOHO because I needed to look for a jacket and a gift for Jenny's wedding tomorrow. I found a formal black jacket that looked good with jeans at FCUK. That’s done. Went to Kate's Paperie and bumped into Karen who was stressed out. She was also shopping for a gift and something to wear for the wedding. Poor Karen. We were tired from all this walking so we went to
Jerry's for a drink.

Simone called and knowing I loved oysters suggested taking me out to
Aquagrill for my birthday dinner. Perfect. I'm just down the block from there now. E had to go back to work so I walked her to the train and met Dave, Sim & Matthew at the restaurant. I think I had my very first oysters here for Eugene’s birthday and they are always the best here. We ordered eight Atlantic & Pacific varieties. A mix of Briny and Buttery. Our favorites were Sister Points, Kumamotos and Wellfleets. We washed them down with Ketel One martinis. I forgot what we had for entrees, the oysters just kicked. Dinner was really great. Thanks Dave, Simone & Matthew. I had my camera on the seat next to me and Matthew was worried that the man sitting close by might steal it. It was the actor John “Nobody fucks with the Jesus!” Turturro looking beefy like Nick Cage. My apple tart came and the waiter forgot to place a birthday candle in it so I made a wish and blew out the table votive. As we were leaving, I got a call from Sarah in California and shouting over the din I heard her say, "I can smell the alcohol from here. Enjoy your birthday!"
We were walking to our next destination and Sim's feet were killing her. I don't know why women just don't buy shoes that fit. So I suggested we go to the
SOHO Grand Hotel nearby for drinks. They thought it would be too fancy but the place is a hipster / rock star / models hotel. We can go anywhere in NY. Besides, I told them that drinks were on me. Let's go. This is one of the few places that can make a
Moscow Mule. It's a vodka and ginger beer cocktail. Delish. Then exhaustion hit me. I was so beat and I had to wake up early for tomorrow’s wedding. What a busy fun birthday. And it all took place within a few blocks of each other inside SOHO.

its not a question of the shoes not fitting, its that they were poorly made and only comfortable for non-walking days. Bah Banana Republic!

women's shoes are a terrible thing. look hot and be absolutely feeble, or have mobility and look, ouch, sensible. what a conundrum! (sp?)
