Simone is 33...give or take a 0

It is so hot and moist out. Met for pre-Simone birthday dinner drinks at a place Emily recommended. A bar on 3rd and Avenue B that had outdoor seating. The Croxley Ales Beer Garden. It's a nice space but a little too bridge and tunnel. They did have Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout. Thick, sweet and delicious. The waitress dropped our bottles and poured heads of foam 4 inches thick. Take it back.
For her birthday, Sim got a Canon digital elph AND a new 40 gig iPod. Awesome birthday presents both, if I was getting it. But my present ruled. I got her a sparkly My Little Pony. Every girl deserves a pony. On the bottom left of the menu was an appetizer named Irish Nachos. What do the Irish know about nachos? Must be something so we ordered it and it turned out to be a thin layer of cheese and mini bacon bits over stringy potato french fries. ridiculous. Take it back.

We had dinner reservations at Lavagna. Sim thought our waiter looked like her ex-boyfriend but I thought he looked like the Cure's Robert Smith without makeup. That comparison made her happier. The food was excellent. I was picking on some of Sim's red snapper and she asked me to try her sauteed grape tomatoes. It was strangely sweet. I feared that it derived its sweetness from raisins. yuck! it was. I hate raisins. I asked Sim to try my delicious, rarely available corona beans. She didn't like it. Maybe it's because it's flavored with her "favorite". Lamb au jus. Baaaaah! Take that!
Afterwards we wanted to get desserts at ChikaLicious Dessert Bar, but there was a huge wait to get into this small delicate space. ridiculous, so we walked down to 1st ave and had Gelato instead. I recognized a woman eating outside but couldn't place her smile. Afterwards I realized that it was my doctor's assistant.
We went bar hopping but I was getting tired. Whoo Hoo. Tomorrow is the Curiosa Festival.

Happy thirty-three Simone!
