Mr. Orange Julius

LeeAnn's been so stressed out over her cat Orange Julius for the past few months. He's been very sick with cancer and she's been taking him to the vet several times a week. He finally had an operation yesterday to extract some tumors around his spine. Poor Julius. Hope he has a fast recovery.

A few weeks ago, she had to take him to the ASPCA for a CAT scan consultation and asked me if I wanted to keep her company and meet Julius. I couldn't believe how bulky the plastic cat carrier was. Julius is a big cat and little LeeAnn had trouble trying to navigate the carrier through the train station so we traded blocks carrying him. The ASPCA on the Upper East Side is several long avenues from the station. The building was new and the waiting room peaceful. The Vet was initially gruff but slowly became more compassionate through LeeAnn's calm. He couldn't do much and suggested seeing an oncologist.
She is so close to Julius and has spent so much time and money caring for him that she thought it was unfair that pet owners couldn't claim pets as dependents. Hmmm. why not? We asked one of the attendants there if pets could be claimed. He didn't think so. Probably because if it you could, then anyone who didn't care for animals would get them just for the deductions. Good point.
We were too tired to carry Julius all the way back to the station so we took the long scenic bus route down to the East Village and went to Atlas Cafe for some caffeine. All the cakes in there looked delicious and are 100% Vegan. Good to know for those who need to know. We got our java and sat on the bench outside of SEA Thai and people watched. We saw a commotion going on inside the palm reader shop and heard the mother & daughter owners having a vicious argument. You'd think they could foresee coming disagreements and avoid them.
