Silver Linings.

Last night I skipped out on a fancy jacket and tie cocktails and dinner party at the '21' Club. Swanky. Only 16 Creative Directors were invited and it was held in their secret basement wine vault. Many of my friends were there and I heard they had a great time. They were surprised that I didn't attend. I should've went but I was just so mentally drained. I just needed to go home, eat leftovers, veg out and watch the women's figure skating showdown.
What a show. This is it. 4 years of training boils down to these few minutes. Such elegance. Sasha Cohen looks like a darker Reese Witherspoon or a lighter Cristina Ricci. You could see it on her face that she wasn't feeling invincible after falling on her practice jumps. And when she performed, you cringed for her when she fell on her jumps. It would've been so easy to give up. But she kept on with the rest of her beautiful, expressive choreographed program. Too bad, she'd be lucky to hold onto a Bronze. I've never seen Arakawa but she had a very strong and fast performance that was perfect. And it was a shock to see the favorite Slutskaya fall and struggle to come up with enough to put it away. No Gold but a Silver for her. When her scores were announced, it was a surprise that she took the Bronze. It's great that even though Sasha messed up on her jumps, she didn't give up and excelled with the rest of her elements. And awesome for Japan for getting their very first gold medal in figure skating. What a dissapointment for Irina, but she kept her pretty smile throughout. It unfolded unexpectedly but in the end it was great drama.
