A tough day today was. For no particular reason. Everything just took longer than usual. Ugh.
Marina stopped by. She was picking up the rest of her stuff and we talked about her homecoming trip to the Ukraine. She had a great time. A book that she was working still needed to be redesigned so I gave it to her as freelance. We were going to go out for drinks but it was Yom Kippur. So another time.
I mentioned to no one in particular that I wanted to see Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Jen heard and said that she & Erik wanted to see it but first they wanted to go to the gym. That's fine. I need to unwind and we can meet later at Old Town. LeeAnn, Rob, Cara & I found a table for 4. But it got tight quickly. Rob's friend Mike came by. Then Karen, Matt and their friend Adam. I invited Erin, then Jen & Erik came by. We ordered another round then went to the movie. The story lagged alittle. The few main characters were flat but I thought that they were fine since I think that the humans were there more for creating iconic still images. I was surprised at how humorous it was and after a while, the world was so consuming that it was hard to imagine that they were acting in a blue room with nothing tangible but their costumes. It's a gorgeous Max Fleischer Superman cartoon inspired world.
After the movie, there were cops and news vans all over Union Square. Apparently they were out to arrest Bicyclist participating in the Critical Mass Ride. So stupid. Ever since the bicyclist were arrested during the RNC, the authorities need to maintain that the bicyclist are disruptive and must be arrested. Newscasters were making live on air reports wearing their suit jacket and ties on camera, and below the camera's view, they were wearing jeans and tennis sneaks. Billy Joel style. A glimpse behind the scenes in the world of broadcasting. We gave channel 2's Pablo Guzman the thumbs up.
We ate at the Galaxy Cafe right next door to Irving Plaza. Talked with Eric & Matt. Rob's friend came by with another friend. He gave off Assh*le vibes. He kept staring at me either wanting to talk or wanting a job. Good thing Karen kept him company. Weasel.

Yeah, I forgot about the copters. I spotted 4 in the sky. Usually the sight of copters are easily ignored, but it's the constant thrumming of the copter blades that started unnerving me.

You need to see Critical Mass from the other side on 10/29 in SF.
