RH Redux

Last week I got an Evite from Pam & Karen. Pam was visiting from her new home in Atlanta and she was going to stay over Karen place on Tompkin Square. These are my old friends from my first publishing job at Random House and I haven't seen them in years. They decided to put together a Random Reunion at Karen's.
It was great seeing some faces that I haven't seen in over 10 years. I invited Angela who I just recently started hanging out with again after years of lost contact. Susan M. who's now the AD of FSG who I'm still in touch with was there too. We've all grown into Art Directors, have our own studios, businesses, and families. Big ups and downs but still essentially the same.
It was strange. I haven't talked to this particular combo of people in such a long time. I felt like I was 22 and a junior designer again. It was great that we still got along so well. Trading old stories and new.

I told Rebecca, who now has an 8 year old son, that I think of her every time I pass her old studio. It used to be in this school in the East Village that was converted into artist studio spaces. I once posed for Rebecca with my friend Heidi for a life sized portrait. What ever happened to that painting? She still has it. She recently saw it but it's now folded up in storage. I told her that I would love to buy it from her. Not just because it's an image of me but more to remember that moment of my life. I vaguely remember what it looked like. It'll be interesting to see what I was wearing and my body language.
