Congratulations. Krista's got a new job at Penguin. After work we had going away drinks at FLUTE, a fancy, dimly lit champagne bar. I'm not into the bubbly. Saying goodbye was bittersweet but I had to leave a little early to go to another bar.
Jen "Moon" was in town. Named no doubt because the paleness of her face rivals the full moon.
Jen has finally found the time to make it back to NYC after leaving 6 years ago for San Fran & Chronicle Books. We were meeting down in the Lower East Side at Verlaine. Along with some of her college friends, Ana, Dave & Sim. Emily, my first assistant was also there. It was great catching up with everyone. Em is now the age I was when I was her AD. It made me think how time just flies. I had a couple of nasty drinks made with bitter ginger beer. Jen was feeling a little worn out on her first day here so we decided to meet up for lunch tomorrow at Chinatown. She's craving Joe's Shanghai's crabmeat soup dumplings. So am I.
When we left, we walked through a movie production that was set up along Orchard Street. Complete with massive rainmakers. Usually when I stumble across a movie being filmed, nothing ever happens. Lots of waiting around. No familiar stars in sight. But this time, we heard ACTION and the night sky became full with rain. Movie magic. Now let's get out of here.
