Diane Arbus, Red Eyeballs

Woke up with my left eyeball all blood shot. I think I have pink eye. But how? I've been feeling like I've had a cold since I got back from New Orleans. I thought it was allergies. Maybe it was from the recycled airplane air.
Anyways. What a gorgeous day. It feels hot like summer. Went to the Met to see the Diane Arbus Revelation retrospective. Maybe because of the nice weather, the museum wasn't overly crowded. All of her major pieces were on the walls and rooms were dedicated to her sketchbooks and contact prints. One room simulated her personal photography library. I want all of these classic photo monographs. I always thought that her photographs exploited the fringes of society, but her portraits humanizes them. It gives them voice and their lives validity. I wondered if some of her subjects knew they were being photographed. I wondered where they were now. Steve later told me that the twin girls came to the show opening. Now in their 40s. I wonder what they think of their part.

The Greek independence day parade was going up 5th Avenue. Walked through the park. Everyone was out on the grass enjoying the day and happy. Sat on the grass and read. Nice.
