Anticipation

I woke up anxious. Today's my big party. It's sweltering hot out and the skies look overcast. No rain please. No one is going to show. People who weren't on my guest list are calling to wish me a Happy and asking if I'm doing anything tonight. Dang, I can't invite everyone. I hope people have fun.
So on top of trying to plan a birthday party worthy of my 40 years at the last possible minute. I also want to move to Manhattan. I was looking to buy but paying $500,000 for a closet was too depressing. So I'm thinking of renting. Everyone's moving. Dave & Sim after looking around the city, found a larger apartment on their floor just down the hallway; Olga was going to sign a lease to a dark ground floor rear apartment w/ prison bars over the windows, but a last minute click on Craig's List found this awesome garden, balcony space in the East Village with John Leguizamo as their neighbor. Even Rachel was dreading having to move out and hit the young apartment scene again but she found a great space in Astoria quickly.
I am not going to be this lucky. I have no time to check out places. And the rent is just going to get more expensive with the school year starting. I need a broker's help. Just find it. But yesterday, I got an email from my friend Erika saying that she just got a job in San Fran and needed to move out of her 2 bedroom doorman apt on 27th and 2nd by August 1st. I called her to check it out. A 15 minute walking distance from the Flatiron and I was there. Nice building. Doorman, bike storage, storage space, dishwasher, tons of closets, 2 bedrooms with this awesome view looking west. This can't be that nice. Can it? I want to live here! I want it. She'll talk to the Management Co. and hope for the best. Now I gotta get downtown. Dave & Sim are treating me to a Birthday Dinner at THE Mario Batali's Babbo's before my party. Butt cheek ravioli. I'm HUNGRY!
